Beyond Paradise has returned to Devon and Cornwall as filming has commenced on the second series and Christmas special.
The first series of the hit Death in Paradise spin-off followed Detective Inspector Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall) as he left the Caribbean for the Devonshire Coast, swapping 'Saint Marie' for 'Shipton Abbott'.
The fictional hometown of his wife-to-be, Martha Lloyd (Sally Bretton), is set in and around the picturesque Devonshire Coast, and Marshall is happy to return: "'Shipton Abbott' is such a wonderful location to call home for a while.
"It's a delight to join up with my fellow police team for another batch of weird and wonderful cases, and to see what's in store for Humphrey and Martha in the next chapter of their lives.”
Fans will be eager to find out what that "next chapter" entails, following the couple's make-or-break trip to Saint Marie at the end of the last series.
As well as the relationship update, there will be more puzzling cases for DI Goodman and his team to crack. Alongside the returning DS Esther Williams (Zahra Ahmadi) and PC Kelby Hartford (Dylan Llewellyn), Goodman will be tasked with solving a shocking crime on a steam train, an arson attack predicted by a spiritual medium and a strange disappearance of a local fishing legend.
Robert Thorogood and Tony Jordan have created the second series of Beyond Paradise, a co-commission between the BBC and BritBox International.
The Christmas special will air in the 2023 festive season, while series two will land in 2024. Series one is available now on BBC iPlayer in the UK, and on BritBox International in North America, Nordic markets and South Africa.
