Extraordinary Escapes with Sandi Toksvig

Sandi Toksvig is back for another season of Extraordinary Escapes, where the writer and broadcaster visits breath-taking and remote holiday destinations. ‘Stay-cations’ are the focus of the series and, as usual, she’ll be joined by other high profile female celebrities.

Alison Steadman, Sindhu Vee, Jessica Hynes and Prue Leith are accompanying Toksvig in series four, in which they will also explore beautifully designed homes across the country and the stories behind them. Previous series have visited all corners of the UK, and this newest instalment is expected to do the same, with seaside retreats, treehouse homes and even a quirky windmill house on the itinerary.

After Danny Sullivan (Tom Holland) is arrested for his involvement in a New York City shooting, interrogator Rya Goodwin (Amanda Seyfried) starts uncovering his dark and mysterious back story.

Over the course of the drama, long flashback narratives tell the story of Danny’s childhood and his traumatic descent into mental illness. Danny is said to be loosely based on Billy Milligan, the first person to be acquitted of a major crime due to a dissociative identity disorder.

After Anna (Katherine Parkinson) has a heart attack and Sam (Youssef Kerkour) botches a suicide attempt, both neighbours travel to hospital in the back of the same ambulance.

What comes next is a romcom drenched in black comedy and self-deprecating humour for these two depressive characters. “It deals with loneliness in a romantic way, an un-depressing way,” Katherine Parkinson told the RTS. “Often in TV the female character will be the emotional, vulnerable one, and the male character will be the cut-off, defensive one, but that’s swapped round in Significant Other. It’s really refreshing.”

Man Like Mobeen

Man Like Mobeen is back for a fourth series, and this time Mobeen (Guz Khan) is banged up in jail. Completing the last weeks of his sentence with friend Nate (Tolu Ogunmefun), Mobeen is trying to stay clear of trouble and get back to caring for his younger sister Asqa (Dúaa Karim). "When I leave here, we ain't never coming back," he declares in the trailer.

He’ll have to keep his wits about him. Bent screws, violent inmates (led by Youssef Kerkour's Megladon) and prison riots await in this gallows humour comedy-drama.

This year’s charity football match for UNICEF features one of its best ever line ups. Euro 2022 winner and ‘Queen of the Jungle’ Jill Scott is the biggest new name on the teamsheet, but watch out for Tom Hiddleston and West Ham fanatic Danny Dyer, who are also making their debuts.

Other celebrities and former sports stars are returning to Wembley for the game, with Sir Mo Farah, Chunkz, Maisie Adam and Francesco Totti just some of the names making up the star-studded squads. Harry Redknapp takes up his regular slot managing the England XI, joined by Stormzy, and former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino makes his bow coaching the Soccer Aid World XI.
