UKTV has confirmed a third series of David Mitchell’s Outsiders, where a group of comedians take on the great outdoors to see if they can survive in a post-apocalyptic society.
Hosted by David Mitchell (Peep Show), the comics will be presented with different survival challenges to create their new civilisation. Previous tasks have included felling trees, milking goats, and writing national anthems.
Living in tents and stripped of life’s luxuries, the comedians have got one week to prove themselves as survivalists.
Executive producer Leanne Klein has promised “ever more creative challenges” in this series.
Mitchell said: “I can't wait to see them flail around in the outdoors in a way that is both hilarious to watch and carries within it the darker truth that, should society collapse, most of us are in for long, agonising deaths. Plus, there'll be lovely cut-away shots of wildlife which you don't get in any other panel show.”
The show has been commissioned for UKTV by director of commissioning Hilary Rosen and senior commissioning editor Mark Idon. Idon said: “We can't wait to get back to the great outdoors with David and a new selection of comedians. It's going to be even better this time with new challenges and new twists to unleash on our comedians.”
The third instalment of David Mitchell's Outsiders will be available on Dave and UKTV Play later in 2023.
