You might not know what day it is or whether it’s now acceptable to take down the Christmas tree, but there are some great TV treats to get you through the confusing post-Christmas, pre-New Year week.

Mayflies

BBC One, 9pm

Martin Compston stars as writer Jimmy, who receives a call from his oldest friend Tully (Tony Curran) with the life-changing news that he has terminal cancer and a final request that will test their 30 year strong friendship.

The series jumps between the present day and 1986, where their friendship began in a small Scottish town as they bonded over music, films and a rebellious spirit.

Adapted from the life-affirming novel by Andrew O’Hagan, Mayflies explores male friendship, tragedy and love.

The Voice Kids

ITV, 8pm

Presented by Emma Willis, The Voice Kids’ finalists will battle it out to be crowned the 2022 winner, landing themselves with a bursary to go towards their musical education and help them progress their future music career.

The remaining singers will give one final performance for coaches Will.i.am, Ronan Keating, Mcfly’s Danny Jones and Pixie Lott.

Jon and Lucy’s Party of the Year

Channel 4, 9pm

Married comedy duo Jon Richardson and Lucy Beaumont host a post-Christmas getaway for their close friends Romesh Ranganathan, Tom Allen and Judi Love.

The group takeover Hebden Bridge cottage for a festive celebration, filled with food, drink and a look back at some of the big moments from 2022. Alongside the usual Christmas arguments over canapes and party games, there are some surprises in store for the gang, including a questionable stocking gift for Romesh and a rousing musical performance from Tom to end their stay.
