This year’s Halloween viewing looks to be sorted as Netflix has released the trailer and premiere date for Guillermo Del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities.
The Academy Award-winning director’s (The Shape of Water) new horror anthology series will drop in double-episode batches across four days, starting from 25 October.
Each of the eight episodes spins a sinister standalone story from one of the teams of writers and directors personally chosen by Del Toro.
The trailer offers glimpses of the "whole worlds" they have created, including several of the beautiful, practically-made monsters that have become a Del Toro trademark.
Said Del Toro in the trailer: “With Cabinet of Curiosities, what I’m trying to say is: look, the world is beautiful and horrible at exactly the same time.”
The series includes episodes from such esteemed auteurs as The Babadook’s Jennifer Kent, Mandy’s Panos Cosmatos and The Empty Man’s David Prior.
Here are the eight stories:
The Autopsy, directed by David Prior (The Empty Man), written by David S. Goyer (The Sandman), based on a short story by Michael Shea, and starring F. Murray Abraham (Amadeus), Glynn Turman (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom) and Luke Roberts (Ransom).
The Outside, directed by Ana Lily Amirpour (A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night), written by Haley Z. Boston (Brand New Cherry Flavor), based on a short story by Emily Carroll, and starring Kate Micucci and Martin Starr.

Lovecraft, and starring Rupert Grint (Harry Potter), Ismael Cruz Cordova (The Undoing), DJ Qualls (Turning Point), Nia Vardalos (Love, Victor) and Tenika Davis (Jupiter’s Legacy).
