After a raging thunderstorm, the mischievous scarecrow Worzel Gummidge (Mackenzie Crook) is elated to find a flock of rare choughs on his patch. Keen to seize the opportunity to scare such a rare bird, Worzel calls on Susan (India Brown) and John (Thierry Wickens) for help.
When word of the flock of choughs causes a group of avid birdwatching ‘twitchers’ to descend on the field, the farmer Mr Braithwaite (Steve Pemberton) is humiliated by his failing scarecrow and plans to replace him with the mechanical Scare-o-Matic 5000. The two children must put their heads together to invent a plan to scare the birds away and save Worzel and Mr B from embarrassment.

Presenter Sandi Toksvig goes back to her Scandinavian roots as she travels to the breath-taking Norway with businesswoman Deborah Meaden, actress Fay Ripley (Cold Feet) and space scientist Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock in this festive edition of Extraordinary Escapes.
Maggie and Sandi go killer whale watching by day and watch the wonderous Northern Lights from their sofa by night, Deborah Meaden comes face-to-face with a pack of wolves and Fay Ripley ventures with Sandi to a mountain-top glass cabin.
