Join David Whiteley and special guests for a screening of his RTS East Award winning film The Galaxy Britain Built, followed by a Q&A at The Forum in Norwich.
This Christmas sees the release of the much anticipated climax to the Star Wars saga. The story of Luke Skywalker, spanning more than four decades, comes to an end with Episode IX, Star Wars - The Rise of Skywalker. Star Wars is a global phenomenon, but it may not have been, had it not been for the British talent behind the film.
The critically acclaimed and RTS-winning, ‘The Galaxy Britain Built’, tells the story of those British artists, designers and filmmakers. Star Wars super-fan, David Whiteley (born on May the Fourth!) celebrates the unsung British heroes behind the original film. Tracking down the often-modest British talent who, against the odds, brought George Lucas’ galaxy to life. Through interviews and archive footage, ‘The Galaxy Britain Built’ reveals the secrets of the creation of some of the most famous costumes, props and sets in movie history.
This Royal Television Society (East) screening will be hosted by David Whiteley who, along with Matt Wildash, turned their passion for Star Wars into a documentary that now also has a place in the hearts of Star Wars fans across the world.
The evening will be followed by a Q and A session with legendary Film Producer, Robert Watts. Robert was the Production Supervisor on Star Wars and went on to produce movies for Steven Spielberg and George Lucas; Return of the Jedi and Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom.
