With this summer’s publication of its strategy paper, “Connectivity, content and consumers: Britain's digital platform for growth”, the UK Government has given notice of change in vital areas of interest for television: EPGs, spectrum allocation, support for production and the regulation of content on connected TVs are among the issues raised, along with a consultation on media plurality. Is the Government too ambitious in a cross-border commercial environment – or not ambitious enough? An expert panel debates the regulatory changes and challenges facing the television industry in the near term.
