The third Jane Mercer memorial lecture is covers the restoration of the BBC Domesday discs
Did the BBC invent the future in 1986 with its innovative interactive video Domesday Project?
Several features of the Domesday discs can now be seen on the world wide web and a million people contributed to it.
So why did it lie neglected and forgotten until BBC Learning reloaded it for the 25th anniversary?
Andy Finney helped founder Peter Armstrong to start the project and then went on to produce some of the disc contents and eventually to help reclaim the content for the new millennium.
He will explain how the project came about, how it worked and was produced,
and what questions it raises for long-term preservation in the digital age.
And if we're very careful, you might just see the real thing in action once again.
but in the mean time enjoy the BBC website
or read Andy Finney's blog - Was modern internet technology influenced by Domesday?
The event was videoed - enjoying seeing and hearing Andy and the team
