Colourists/graders come in near the end of the edit, and must ensure that all shots within a scene and throughout the narrative are colour balanced.

Duties include

• Balance the luminance and colour saturation of all the shots
• Maintain the colour continuity within scenes throughout the narrative 
• Correct photographic issues such as exposure
• Liaise with clients for the desired visual finish
• Define and archive a collection of corrections to ensure they can be accessed at a later date

Skills needed

• Knowledge and proficiency with a range of editing software
• Keen eye for detail
• Strong knowledge of a variety of cameras and cinematography
• Understanding of editing software and techniques
• Highly experienced in videotape
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Able to work under pressure 
• Strong organisational and problem solving skills
• Able to enhance visuals and narrative through colour alterations
