A director will construct the narrative of the story, creatively and technically, through the shots and scenes. The director will create a shooting script that the crew will work from and will be responsible for the order of scenes and the actors/talent in them.

Duties include

  • Creating and refining a shooting script
  • Delegating tasks and managing the crew
  • Working to keep to the financial budget of the production
  • Directing scenes during filming
  • Selecting shots

Skills needed

  • Creative and a strong concept of storytelling
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Able to think critically to overcome problems
  • Strong knowledge of the television production process
  • Ability to use initiative in pressured work environments
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to efficiently manage a team and instruct others
