If the cracker trivia facts are running dry and you’ve memorised every nugget of general knowledge from the decades-old Trivial Pursuit that’s annually fished out from under the bed, add some topical quizzing into your festive recovery day with the return of Big Fat Quiz of the Year.

For those who've been addicted to your phones for the last 12 months and can reference every obscure pop culture moment from 2023, here’s your time to shine.

Jimmy Carr returns at the quizmaster helm, joined by Richard Ayoade, Katherine Ryan, Mel Giedroyc, Mo Gilligan, Rosie Jones and Kevin Bridges attempt to show off their knowledge of an eventful year.

And not forgetting the annual visit to Mitchell Brook Primary School for another Oscar worthy performance.

BBC One, 9pm

Death in Paradise has become a permanent fixture on our screens since 2011, with 12 series and multiple spin-offs.

This 90-minute special returns to the fictional island of Saint Marie, and it’s not long before the beautiful scenery is marred by the discovery of a dead body in the ravine.

As Neville (Ralph Little) and the team try to uncover the mystery surrounding the death of Gerry Stableforth, more questions arise when the businessman’s digital marketing guru goes missing.

Away from the desk, Neville is busy hosting his mum for Christmas as he reflects on the mistakes he’s made in his personal life following the breakdown of his relationships with Florence and Sophie.

ITV looks back on the extraordinary life of actor, playwright, director, composer and singer Noël Coward fifty years after his death.

The special documents Coward’s rags to riches story, from growing up in poverty and leaving school before he was 10 years old, to becoming the highest paid writer of his time and swept into the upper classes.

He created West End classics such as Private Lives, Hay Fever, Blithe Spirit and Brief Encounter, all while overcoming personal hardships and being forced to hide his sexuality.

Alan Cumming narrates the documentary, while Rupert Everett lends his voice as Noël Coward.
