Wolf

Monday

BBC One, 9.00pm

From the makers of Sherlock comes a crime thriller adapted from Mo Hayder’s acclaimed Jack Caffrey series.

In Wolf, Caffrey, played by Ukweli Roach (Annika), is an isolated 30-something-year-old detective obsessed with finding out the truth about the 1990s murder of his 10-year-old brother. He suspects his neighbour of the crime and the lone wolf finds himself righting the wrongs of others as he follows the scent of blood.

A parallel storyline sees the wealthy Anchor-Ferrers family being tortured inside their own home by a pair of psychopaths with a penchant for the theatrical. Expect brutal torment with an element of opera and a dose of slapstick.

Wonders of the Moon with Dara Ó Briain

Tuesday

Channel 5, 9.00pm

Alongside his career as a stand-up comedian and host of Mock the Week, Dara Ó Briain is an amateur astronomer and astro-photographer.

Ó Briain’s lifelong fascination with the moon will be put to good use in this new documentary. The comedian will myth-bust some common associations with the full moon, namely werewolves and madness, as well as examining its impact on Earth.

In the first episode of the two-part docuseries, Ó Briain will meet with a fisherman to find out how the moons gravitational pull affects their work and visit the world’s first lunar calendar created by stone age farmers.

Sunday

Channel 4

This hit reality survival show has amassed a cult following in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and the US and is now ready to take on the UK, as 11 ordinary people will battle the Canadian wilderness, entirely alone.

Without a camera crew or producers nearby, the contestants will self-film their journey, with the last one standing winning £100,000.

The wannabe adventurers are aged 19-58 and come from all over the UK and have one thing in common: a passion for outdoor adventure and survival. Each will be dropped at individual locations with the omnipresent risk of bears, wolves, loneliness and starvation, and no one there to help them.
