Not Going Out

With the New Year well underway, a number of our favourite shows are set for a welcome return. Look out for Michaela Coel's Chewing Gum, Lee Mack's Not Going Out and the final episode of Sherlock.

Monday: The Great Indoors

ITV 2, 9.30pm

This new comedy stars Stephen Fry as adventure journalist Joel McHale who must adapt to modern times when he becomes office-bound in a digital department full of millennials.

From an adventurous outdoor life to one surrounded by social media and click-bait articles, how on Earth will he cope in such a different environment?


Tuesday: Martin Clunes Islands of Australia

In a new three-part documentary series, Martin Clunes travels to sixteen islands across Australia, which all provide a diverse, historical and challenging look into island life on the continent.

In the first episode, Clunes travels to Lord Howe Island, about 90 minutes flight from Sydney, one of Australia's remote communities which inhabits only 350 people.


Wednesday: Common Sense

BBC Two, 10pm

Narrated by Gavin and Stacey's Ruth Jones, Common Sense is a new six-part comedy series for BBC Two.

From Studio Lambert, the creators of Channel 4's hit Gogglebox, the show features British people from all walks of life giving their take on the news of the week, often with an interesting and funny take on the affairs of the day.


Thursday: Chewing Gum

Michaela Coel's Tracey is back in a hysterical second series of RTS award-winning comedy Chewing Gum.

We see Tracey return to her estate, but her mum and best friend Candice are far from happy to see her. Her ex-boyfriend Connor is in a new relationship and Tracey does everything thing she can to prove to him she has moved on - with mixed success.


Friday: Not Going Out

Lee Mack's multi award-winning series Not Going Out returns to BBC One. The new series explores Lee's take on family life, as he tries to deal with married life and three new arrivals.

We last saw Lee and Lucy (Sally Bretton) having their first child as newlyweds and seven years later there're two identical new additions to the family unit. Combined with taxing friends and family members, we see just how they cope with life. (Clue: not well)


Saturday: The Voice UK

ITV, 8pm 

The Voice UK kicked off last weekend on ITV with budding new talent, all singing for their chance to be coached by one of the judges who are all competing to have the best on their teams.


Sunday: Sherlock - The Final Problem

In the final episode of the new series, hidden secrets emerge and John Watson (Martin Freeman) and Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch) face some tough challenges. What is next for the duo?
