November saw the second year of the popular Southern Centre “Freelance fair”, held at the Vestry restaurant in Southampton.
More than 50 professionals from film, editing, camera, sound, kit hire, engineering, acting, locations, corporate outfits and TV companies gathered to discuss their current projects.
Working as a freelance television professional can be challenging, especially for those who are new to the region, so the fair provides a platform for people from different sectors of the industry to meet, connect and build a sense of community.
It is perhaps a testament to the vibrancy of television production in the area that some freelancers who registered for a ticket in advance were unable to attend as they were stuck on location or in the edit.
“Once again, this event has proved to be very popular,” said Southern Centre Chair, Stephanie Farmer. “It shows there is a role for the RTS to support the growing band of creative freelance professionals in our region.”
