Welsh comedy classics will be on the menu at the National Eisteddfod in Llanrwst next week.

Visitors to Sinemaes will be able to vote for their favourite Welsh language comedy out of six pre-selected shows, with the most popular programme being shown at the end of the week.

Mi fydd clasuron comedi teledu Cymreig yn rhan o’r arlwy yn yr Eisteddfod Genedlaethol yn Llanrwst yr wythnos nesaf.

Bydd ymwelwyr â Sinemaes yn gallu pleidleisio dros eu hoff raglen gomedi Gymraeg o blith chwech, a bydd y rhaglen fwyaf poblogaidd yn cael ei dangos yn ei chyfanrwydd ddiwedd yr wythnos.

Part of RTS Cymru Wales' 60th anniversary celebrations, the first event will be held on Monday 5 August at 3.00pm when media commentator Tim Hartley will be introducing clips from half a dozen classics from the TV archives over the past 60 years.

Voting forms will be available throughout the week for Sinemaes audiences to pick their favourite programme from the list. The show with the most votes will be shown on Saturday 10 August at 3.30pm.

“It would be impossible to represent every comedy show broadcast over the past 60 years, so this is an opportunity to have some light-hearted fun while marking the six decades the Royal Television Society has been in Wales,” explains Judith Winnan, Chair of RTS Cymru Wales.

“It’s given us a chance to enjoy a combination of well-known and perhaps less-known comedy programmes. We’re grateful to the broadcasters for making these particular clips available for public viewing.”

Sinemaes, co-ordinated by BAFTA Cymru, is a programme of screenings to promote Welsh film and television. As in previous years, Sinemaes will be located in its distinctive tepee on the Eisteddfod Maes.

RTS Cymru Wales is also showcasing the work of acclaimed director Marc Evans with a screening of Dal: Yma/Nawr - his 2003 documentary film tracing “the poetic soul of Wales”, starring John Cale, Ioan Gruffudd and Rhys Ifans. The session will be held in Sinemaes on Friday 9 August at 6.45pm.

Also at Sinemaes throughout the week, RTS Cymru Wales will be showing a selection of Welsh language TV adverts.

“The ads are a fascinating snapshot of televisual techniques, cultural trends and social attitudes,” says Judith Winnan.

Entry to the sessions are free.

The events are being held in partnership with the Screen and Sound Archive at the National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth and supported by S4C, BBC Cymru Wales and ITV Cymru Wales.

Fel rhan o ddathliadau pen-blwydd RTS Cymru Wales yn 60, cynhelir y digwyddiad cyntaf ddydd Llun 5 Awst am 3.00pm pan fydd sylwebydd y cyfryngau Tim Hartley yn cyflwyno clipiau o hanner dwsin o glasuron o’r archif teledu dros y 60 mlynedd diwethaf.

Bydd ffurflenni pleidleisio ar gael trwy gydol yr wythnos i gynulleidfaoedd Sinemaes ddewis eu hoff raglen oddi ar y rhestr. Bydd y rhaglen â’r nifer fwyaf o bleidleisiau’n cael ei dangos ddydd Sadwrn 10 Awst am 3.30pm.

“Byddai’n amhosibl cynnwys pob rhaglen gomedi a ddarlledwyd dros y 60 mlynedd diwethaf, felly mae hwn yn gyfle i gael ychydig o hwyl wrth nodi’r chwe degawd y mae’r Gymdeithas Deledu Frenhinol wedi bod yng Nghymru,” esboniodd Judith Winnan, Cadeirydd RTS Cymru Wales.

“Mae wedi rhoi cyfle inni fwynhau cyfuniad o raglenni comedi adnabyddus ac efallai llai adnabyddus. Rydym yn ddiolchgar i'r darlledwyr am sicrhau bod y clipiau penodol hyn ar gael i'r cyhoedd eu gweld.

Rhaglen o ddangosiadau i hyrwyddo ffilm a theledu Cymraeg yw Sinemaes, a gydlynir gan BAFTA Cymru. Fel mewn blynyddoedd blaenorol, bydd Sinemaes wedi ei leoli yn ei dîpî nodedig ar Faes yr Eisteddfod.

Mae RTS Cymru Wales hefyd yn dangos gwaith y cyfarwyddwr adnabyddus Marc Evans gyda dangosiad o Dal: Yma / Nawr, ei ffilm feistrolgar o 2003 sy’n dathlu “enaid barddonol Cymru”, gyda John Cale, Ioan Gruffudd, Matthew Rhys a Rhys Ifans. Bydd y dangosiad yn cael ei gynnal yn Sinemaes ddydd Gwener 9 Awst am 6.45pm.

Hefyd yn Sinemaes trwy gydol yr wythnos, bydd RTS Cymru Wales yn dangos detholiad o hysbysebion teledu Cymraeg.

“Mae’r hysbysebion yn gipolwg hynod ddiddorol ar dechnegau teledu, tueddiadau diwylliannol ac agweddau cymdeithasol,” meddai Judith Winnan.

Mae mynediad i’r sesiynau am ddim.

Mae'r digwyddiadau’n cael eu cynnal mewn partneriaeth ag Archif Sgrin a Sain yn Llyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru yn Aberystwyth gyda chefnogaeth S4C, BBC Cymru Wales ac ITV Cymru Wales.
