Sky Sports Mix will broadcast 2016’s World’s Toughest Mudder on 26th January.

Sky Sports Mix has added the 2016 World’s Toughest Mudder to the programme schedule, which has seen 33 different sports since the channel launched in August 2016.

This will be the first time the 24-hour endurance race will be broadcast on UK television.

The race will see competitors battle it out over a 5-mile course, tackling challenging obstacles in a race to be crowned World’s Toughest Mudder.

Sky has commissioned two more Tough Mudder series for 2017: a six-part series that will focus on three 'every day' Tough Mudder heroes, and an exclusive series following five current and former British Olympians competing in a number of Tough Mudder events.

Sky Sports Head of Multisport, Georgina Faulkner, said: "Sky Sports Mix has brought a whole new set of sporting events into every Sky home for the first time, and Tough Mudder is another exciting addition.

"Our viewers will already be familiar with these popular events and we will bring the excitement, competition and sheer physical effort to an even wider audience."

The World’s Toughest Mudder series will first air on 24 January with a special pre-show, introducing the range of people taking part, from everyday athletes to more practiced endurance runners and ultra-competitors.

The programme adds to an exciting new schedule of extreme sport on the channel, which includes drone racing, surfing, snowboarding, cliff diving and mountain biking.

Tough Mudder’s Founder and CEO, Will Dean, added: “We are thrilled to partner with Sky to expand our video content distribution footprint globally, bringing Tough Mudder to millions of people throughout the UK.

"Our partnership with Sky will allow us to continue reaching a global audience, while bringing Tough Mudder to Sky Sport’'s millions of viewers."

The Tough Mudder joins an impressive variety of sports events that will be shown on Sky Sports Mix in 2017 such as the NFL playoffs, Premier League football, the Vitality Netball Superleague, ATP 500 tennis and the Snowboarding World Cup.
