Magician Dynamo is set to bury himself alive in new live special Dynamo is Dead.

The programme will culminate in the performer – real name Steven Frayne – burying his own grave, where he will lay his creation to rest.

In the run-up to the finale, Dynamo will go on a mental health journey. At rock bottom, the magician struggles with loss of identity, but manages to find the strength to move onto the next chapter of his life and career.

Along the way, he reaches out to such famous faces as Cara Delevingne, Tyson Fury, Demi Lovato, and Steven Bartlett. Each conversation gets Dynamo closer to the empowerment necessary to let go of the past.

Among Dynamo’s best-known tricks are walking on the River Thames in 2011 for his show Dynamo: Magician Impossible. He has also levitated off the side of a double decker bus, and above The Shard, the tallest building in the UK.

Dynamo is Dead was commissioned by Phil Edgar-Jones, director of Sky Arts and Entertainment, and Zai Bennett, Sky’s managing director of content. Expectation TV and Seventeen are co-producing, with Dynamo, Rowland French, Ben Wicks and Josh Berger executive producing.

Dynamo is Dead will be broadcast at 9.00pm on Thursday 14 December on Sky Max and streaming platform NOW.
