Sky has released a first look trailer for This England, the new drama based on Boris Johnson’s first months as Prime Minister.
Formerly titled This Sceptered Isle, the five-part series retraces the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in the UK.
Kenneth Branagh stars as Boris Johnson, who famously grappled with all of the pandemic, Brexit and his controversial personal and political life during his first months in office.
The events in government are interspersed with stories from the experts and scientists racing against the clock to understand the virus, the frontline workers bravely attempting to contain it and the ordinary people whose lives were upended.
Michael Winterbottom (Greed) co-wrote the series with Kieron Quirke, and Winterbottom also directed the series before being replaced by Julian Jarrold due to health issues.
This England will air on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV later in 2022.
