From Bake Off hosts to contract killers, Sky has released the first look image of Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins in the pair’s first scripted comedy series, Hitmen.
The six-part series, written and created by Joe Parkham and Joe Markham, follows two best friends, Fran (Perkins) and Jamie (Giedroyc), who only have each other to rely on as they try to move forward in the world.
The only thing is, they kill people for a living which adds a certain element of complication to their lives.
Joe Parkham and Joe Markham commented: “We can’t believe that something which has been knocking around inside our heads for so long has been brought to life by two of the funniest people in the country, along with a load of our other comedy heroes.”
Morwenna Gordon, commissioning editor of Sky comedy praised Parkham and Markham for creating a world that is “ruthless, funny and heart-warming all at the same time.”
She added: “We have a brilliant cast, featuring many well-known faces, in a number of unexpected and potentially life-threatening circumstances that Fran and Jamie find themselves in along the way.”
The Sky original series was produced by Tiger Aspect, with Morwenna Gordon serving as executive producer.
Hitmen joins other Sky original commissions, including Code 404 with Stephen Graham and Daniel Mays, Breeders with Martin Freeman and Two Weeks to live with Maisie Williams.
Hitmen is set to premiere on Sky One in spring 2020.
