Sky hopes the adventure will appeal to the whole family

W1A’s Ophelia Lovibond will star alongside Michael Landes, best known for appearing alongside Tamsin Grieg in Love Soup, in new Sky 1 drama Hooten & The Lady.

Landes will play Hooten, an adventurer, who teams up with Lady Alexandra Lindo-Parker (Lovibond) from the British Museum to go in search of lost treasures, from the tomb of Alexander the Great to the Buddha’s missing scroll.

“This is an incredibly ambitious show which I hope will be appointment to view television for a discerning drama audience on Sky 1,” said showrunner Tony Jordan.

“Seat of your pants adventure is the glue but Hooten & The Lady is all about these two amazing characters.”

Jordan, who founded Red Planet Pictures which is also producing the BBC’s new 20-part drama Dickensian, will head up a writing team which includes co-creators James Payne, Sarah Phelps, Jeff Povey and Richard Zajdlic.

The eight part series is the latest in a raft of original drama commissions for Sky 1, with trans-Atlantic tale You, Me and the Apocalypse debuting this week, and Raymond Briggs’ Fungus and the Bogeyman airing at Christmas.

Hooten & The Lady begins filming next month in Rome, before moving to South Africa,

The series is due to air on Sky 1 next summer.
