A real time live drama called Galwad: A Story From Our Future has been announced for Sky Arts commissioned by Creative Wales.

The story will unfold in real-time on digital and broadcast platforms, blending live performance with TV drama to create a new form of storytelling.

Filmed and set in Wales, the series asks the question: what would happen if the future tried to contact us?

Galwad: A Story From Our Future tells the story of Efa (Aisha-May Hunte), a 16-year-old from Swansea who finds her life turned upside down when her 46-year-old mind from 2052 infiltrates her 16-year-old body.

Efa attempts to explain her strange situation to her friends when fragments from 2052 begin to appear on the airwaves, in text messages and on TV.

She sets out on a journey across Wales to find some answers, unsure about how much she should reveal and if anyone would even believe her.

In 2052, 16-year-old Efa’s mind is in her 46-year-old body, played by Alexandria Riley, and the world has changed beyond recognition in a way that terrifies Efa.

Efa is desperate to return to the world she knows and see her nan again.

All around her people are reconnecting with their past, to loved ones and old memories, unsure of what to do or say.

A second storm is on the horizon and it could reverse everything and Efa needs to get back and quickly.

The series encourages viewers to think about the dilemmas and impact a 1.8 degree rise in global temperatures and widespread social change would have on the future.

Galwad: A Story From Our Future will air from 26th September to the 2nd October 2022 on social media and TV.
