The cast for new Sky crime thriller A Town Called Malice has been announced.

The eight-part series will star Jack Rowan (Noughts + Crosses), Tahirah Sharif (The Tower), Dougray Scott (Crime), Jason Flemyng (Pennyworth) and Martha Plimpton (Younger).

The explosive family drama is set amongst the sunny backdrop of Costa del Sol in the early 80’s, with a decade-defining soundtrack to accompany the series.

The series follows the Lord family, who are a group of petty thieves from South London who swap London for Spain to cash in on an unexpected windfall and escape the police who have questions about a high-profile murder enquiry.

The head of the Lord family is Albert Lord (Jason Flemyng), joined by Mint Ma (Martha Plimpton), youngest son Gene Lord (Jack Rowan) and his girlfriend Cindy Carter (Tahirah Sharif).

The wider family members include Uncle Tony (Dougray Scott), Leonard Lord (Lex Shrapnel), Kelly Lord (Daniel Sharman), Anthony Lord (George Jaques) and Carly Lord (Eliza Butterworth).

Gene is often overlooked as the youngest son but is very smart and, after narrowly surviving a gangland battle, he flees to Spain with his daring fiancé Cindy.

With trouble following the two like night follows day, the couple soon find themselves caught up in the local underworld.

The rest of the Lord family also decide to relocate to the Costa del Sol and see it as a golden opportunity to bring back some of their former glory.

However, this clashes with Gene and Cindy’s plan and they do not want to get caught up in the family drama.

A Town Called Malice will air next year on Sky Max and NOW TV.
