A new series of Weakest Link is coming to BBC One, hosted by Romesh Ranganathan.

The quick-fire general knowledge quiz will put celebrities’ minds to the test, as they battle against each other until only two players remain and a winner is crowned.

Ranganathan will be taking his own unique presenting style and put the celebrities under pressure, as they attempt to avoid being eliminated and win money for their chosen charity.

Weakest Link originally debuted in 2000, originally presented by new Countdown host Anne Robinson, with the last version airing in 2017 as part of Children In Need.

Romesh Ranganathan commented: “It’s an honour to be asked to bring what is basically a TV institution back to our screens. Anne was an amazing host and to step into her shoes is an anxiety inducing privilege.

“I’m hoping we’ve found a way to make both the fans of the show happy as well as bringing a new audience to it. If not, accept this as my apology.”

The new series will be filmed in Glasgow, and the celebrity contestants and air date will be released at a later date.
