Following in the footsteps of podcasts turned TV shows such as Danny Robins’ Uncanny, Michael Mosley’s educational podcast Just One Thing will be getting transformed into a BBC series.
Mosley’s podcast focuses on – naturally – just one thing an episode, in the hopes that listeners will take away a small change they can make in their daily lifestyles. One 15-minute episode might encourage you to take some deep breaths through your nose, another to take a walk immediately after it rains. Mosley then goes into the science of how it could improve your mental and physical health.
For its visual counterpart, Mosley will head out across the UK to a series of locations, including Glasgow, the Lake District and Blackpool, with each place having a link to the tip for that particular episode. He will also be encouraging the locals to take his advice and see the impact on their health.
Michael Mosley says, “I am delighted that my popular podcast series is being made into a television series; the idea behind the series is that we show people that making a few simple changes can lead to big improvements in their mental and physical wellbeing. For the series I’ll be travelling across the UK to unearth lots of simple tips to help people change their lives for the better.”
Head of BBC Daytime Commissioning, Rob Unsworth, adds: “This is a first for BBC Daytime, as we bring to our schedule the TV version of this much-loved-brand. We’re thrilled to be collaborating with such a juggernaut of a podcast and look forward to welcoming existing fans at the same time as introducing this brilliant format to a whole new audience.
“We hope they’ll love it in the same way as so many listeners already enthusiastically have. Michael is an audience favourite, so we can’t wait to see what simple tips he has for living happier, healthier lives.”
The 10-episode series Just One Thing With Michael Mosley will air on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer later in 2024.
