ITV has recommissioned the comedy panel show Sorry, I Didn’t Know, hosted by Jimmy Akingbola.

The only comedy panel show that celebrated Black history, Sorry, I Didn’t Know will return in October with Chizzy Akudolu and Judi Love once again captaining the teams.

This year, ITV and TriForce Productions have launched a new competition to find two new writers for the show, who will join showrunner Fraser Ayres in the series writing room.

With the aim of finding the next wave of comedy writers and giving them their first broadcast credit, the opportunity will be open to everyone to apply.

Fraser Ayres commented: “The world of writing for comedy panel shows is incredibly difficult to break into, so we’re opening up the doors to find writing talent that might not usually get this opportunity. We don’t care what you’ve done before, or whether you have an agent – we just want to find people who are funny, passionate and love Black history to go on this exciting journey with us” said Fraser Ayres of TriForce Productions.

Writers can apply via the TriForce Creative Network website with submissions now open until 11:59pm on 24 June.
