Production has started on a new series of award-winning children's animated show Peppa Pig.
The 117 new episodes will bring the total number of Peppa Pig episodes to a staggering 381, which will be broadcast globally in 180 countries from Spring 2019 and will provide Peppa Pig content at least four years.
The animated series, produced by award-winning Astley Baker Davies, follows the adventures of Peppa Pig and her family and animal friends as she experiences day to day activities, including going to the park, attending playgroup, going swimming, going on holiday and visiting family.
The Peppa Pig brand has escalated to dizzying heights, with global success in merchandise and experiences aimed at preschool children.
Fans can enjoy a Peppa Pig cinematic experience, a Peppa Pig Live experience, as well as regular videos and extras on their YouTube channel for their two million plus subscribers, multiple interactive Peppa Pig apps, books, games, and even a theme park at Paultons Park Peppa Pig World dedicated to the fictional character.
The new line of toys is the latest addition to the brand's ever expanding empire, which will debut in retail stores from August 2017.
It is estimated that the brand will make a staggering £1.4bn in the next three to five years.
“Peppa Pig’s global appeal continues apace as we bring new content to audiences across the world," commented Darren Throop, CEO of Peppa Pig's production company Entertainment One Ltd.
"With a new series in the pipeline, best-in-class partners and strong marketing and experiential initiatives in each territory, we continue to nurture the long term success of this global preschool phenomenon.”
The hit show has achieved global success, proving to be a hit in the US and Asia, with over 24.5 billion views on SVOD platforms in China alone.
Last year, Peppa Pig's production company Entertainment One Ltd rejected a takeover bid from ITV.
The show has continued to be aired on Channel 5 where it was first launched in 2004.
