Sex and the City actress Kim Cattrall joins the second season of the hit Swedish crime series Modus on BBC Four.

The first season of the Swedish crime series followed psychologist Inger Johanne Vik (Melinda Kinnaman) who, along with her autistic daughter, become involved in an investigation surrounding a series of disturbing deaths.

The psychologist meets detective Ingvar Nymann (Henrik Norlen) and the two team up to uncover clues in the sinister case and find the serial killer committing these brutal crimes.

Cattrall takes on the role of the President of the United States who arrives in Stockholm for a state visit but the trip soon turns out to have unexpected and devastating consequences.

Kim Cattrall commented: “I am pleased to be joining the Modus production in their second season and am looking forward to spending time in Sweden, a country I have always wanted to visit.

"As a fan of the great Swedish director, Ingmar Bergman, I look forward to my time here.”

Sandra Harms, Producer at Miso Film said: “We are so proud and happy that Kim has joined the cast of Modus to play the US president, it’s really a dream come true.

"In a time when no one can keep their eyes off US politics and its implications far beyond America’s borders, Modus season 2 moves into the international arena."

Åsa Sjöberg, Director of Content, C More and TV4 added: “With the second season of Modus, it feels amazing to be able to offer viewers such a high-end local drama on an international level."
