ITV has commissioned a two-part documentary series with Ant and Dec.
Ant & Dec’s DNA Journey will follow Ant and Dec as they attempt to uncover their ancestral roots with the help of expert genealogists and historians.
Using their DNA, the duo’s journey will take them to Ireland and the US, meeting far-flung relatives along the way. The show will reveal some astonishing truths about both Ant and Dec’s heritage, including celebrated war heroes, ‘historically important’ ancestral bones and even Royal descendants.
For Ant, the opportunity was an unbelievably insightful experience. He commented: “What we find out is mind-blowing and nothing either of us could ever have imagined.”
Touching on the familial revelations in the special, Dec said: “Whilst it was incredible to find out about the past, what was hugely overwhelming was to meet relatives neither of us knew we had.”
Co-produced by Voltage TV and Mitre television, Ant and Dec’s DNA Journey will offer viewers a more personal look into the pair’s extraordinary friendship.
Siobhan Greene, who commissioned the show for ITV, said: “I feel sure the ITV viewers will be on the edge of their seats watching twists and turns of their DNA journey unfold, and their honesty and openness, will leave a lasting heart print.”
