Facebook has introduced its first documentary series, based on the popular blog Humans of New York.
The series expands on Brandon Stanton's blog Humans of New York, which features photographs and life stories of an eclectic mix of New Yorkers.
The twelve-part series features clips from 1200 video interviews with people from all walks of life, telling their own personal stories of life, love and hardship.
The documentary can be viewed on Facebook's new video platform Watch, which features new original shows and video content for Facebook users to stream.
The first episode premiered on 29 August and has already received over 3 million views on the social media platform.
The HONY blog garnered a huge Facebook following when it launched in 2010 and has inspired two best-selling books.
New episodes will be released weekly on the Facebook page Humans of New York: The Series. The documentary series is part of a new array of video streaming content on Facebook; the social media site recently collaborated with Focus Features to enable users to watch hit films The Motorcycle Diaries, The Garden State and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind on Facebook Live over consecutive weeks.
