Following his triumphant return to TV in Field of Dreams On Tour, Freddie Flintoff will now be looking back at his life and cricketing career for a new Disney+ documentary.

The 90 minute film will see Flintoff team up once more with South Shore, who produces the Field of Dreams series that sees the former England cricketer recruit disadvantaged Preston boys for a new team.

While recording a segment for Top Gear in December 2022, Flintoff suffered a near-fatal crash that threw the second series into doubt. But after a year of recovery, he returned to filming in late 2023 for the programme to air the following summer.

3.5 million per episode watched him fulfil his promise to take the boys to India, prompting the BBC to renew the series. He would also open up about the crash for the first time, and the severe anxiety it had caused that kept him housebound.

Over the last year, Flintoff has granted exclusive access to director John Dower for a Disney+ Original film. He has followed Flintoff as he continues to recover from the crash, and as he looks back at his extraordinary career in which he won two Ashes series with England and became a national hero.

Andrew Mackenzie and Naomi Templeton are executive producing the series for South Shore, as well as Flintoff and Disney+’s Executive Director of Unscripted, Sean Doyle.
