BBC One has revealed the cast for new daytime crime drama The Mallorca Files, which includes Broadchurch actor Elen Rhys and the Prey’s Julian Looman.
Set on the Spanish Island of Mallorca, introverted British cop Miranda Blake (Rhys) clashes with her German partner Max Winter (Looman) who is unashamedly unconventional and wears his heart on his sleeve.
Their opposing personalities play out in their crime-solving endeavours while the Police Chief Inez Villegas keeps them busy with cases her own team don’t want.
Written by Dan Sefton (The Good Karma Hospital), the new series is directed by Bryn Higgins (Black Mirror).
The 10-part series is co-produced by Cosmopolitan Pictures and Clerkenwell Films and begins production next month with further cast members to be announced.
“Dan Sefton has written a wonderfully flawed character in Miranda, who promises to be a lot of fun. I am thrilled to be playing one of this mismatched crime-fighting duo – especially against the beautiful backdrop of Mallorca. What’s not to like?” said Elen Rhys on her new role.
Julian Looman added: “When I read the scripts I was immediately drawn to Max, and it was an opportunity to play a different kind of German to the ones British audiences might be used to!
“I’m thrilled to be playing opposite the talented Elen and know we can make a great on-screen partnership.”
The Mallorca Files will premiere on BBC One Daytime from Monday to Friday and will be available on BBC iPlayer at the same time.
