The third series of COBRA sees the Prime Minister returning to more domestic political challenges as Jane Horrocks joins the cast.

Prime Minister Robert Sutherland, played by Robert Carlyle (Trainspotting, Once Upon a Time), is back again to tackle more crises in Number 10 for a third series of COBRA: Rebellion.

Natural disasters, corrupt arms dealers and nefarious corporate security firms take centre stage in this instalment of political peril, with Jane Horrocks (Bloods, Absolutely Fabulous) joining the cast as the new populist Defence Secretary, Victoria Dalton.

The same team of advisers return to the Prime Minister's aid, including Victoria Hamilton (The Crown) as Chief of Staff Anna Marshall, David Haig (Killing Eve) as Foreign Secretary Archie Glover Morgan, Richard Pepple (Gangs of London) as Home Secretary Joseph Obasi and Marsha Thomason (The Bay) as Francine Bridge, Shadow Environment Secretary. The drama will feature six episodes.

Toby Finlay, who worked as part of the writing team on the previous series, now takes the title of lead writer and is joined by James Wood (Quacks, Rev.) and Rachel Anthony (Lucky Man).

The first series, named simply COBRA, saw a solar flare destroy the electricity grid in the UK, dismantling power networks across the nation. The fallout was catastrophic. The Prime minister faced not only political but also family challenges as his daughter’s best friend died of a drug overdose.

Series two, COBRA: Cyberwar, dealt with international stand-offs and souring relations as Russia launched a cyber-attack on Britain after police arrested two people believed to be responsible for the murder of a Ukrainian oligarch.

The third series promises more carnage and political turmoil than ever. Lisa Palfrey (Chloe) returns as Eleanor James, Head of the Joint Intelligence Committee, with Lucy Cohu (Ripper Street) also coming back to take up the mantle of Prime Minister’s wife Rachel Sutherland.

No release date has been revealed yet, but the show is confirmed to be coming to Sky Max and streaming service NOW in 2023.
