Christopher Eccleston and Paula Malcomson are set to star in BBC One's new drama Come Home.

Award-winning screenwriter Danny Brocklehust explores the realities of family, parenthood and marriage in new BBC One family drama.

The three-part series, set and filmed in Northern Ireland, questions the implications of a mother walking out on her family and the personal and social complexities of her action, as well the investigating the mystery of why she came to the such an extreme decision.

Christopher Eccleston (Fortitude, Doctor Who) and Paula Malcomson (Broken) star as married couple Greg and Marie, who must deal with Marie's dramatic decision to abandon her family and what led her to walking out on her husband and three children.

Eccleston said of the project, “I'm very proud to be working with Danny Brocklehurst, RED Production Company, the BBC and Paula Malcomson on this challenging and provocative drama.”

“After working in the US for 25 years I am thrilled to back home working for the second time in a year with the BBC and Northern Ireland Screen telling working class stories for a thinking, feeling audience," commented Malcomson.

“Chris and Paula are two of the UK's finest actors and I couldn't be more thrilled to have them in Come Home," added Danny Brocklehust. "The drama takes Greg and Marie on a hugely emotional journey as it explores the fallout from a mother leaving her children and it requires actors of their calibre to pull it off."

Come Home is the first network BBC drama commission to be announced since the renewal of the BBC and Northern Ireland Screen partnership agreement in April this year.
