The BBC has commissioned Cheaters, made by Clerkenwell Films, for a second series.
The comedy-drama, starring Susan Wokoma (Year Of The Rabbit), Joshua McGuire (Anatomy Of A Scandal), Jack Fox (Riviera) and Callie Cooke (Rules of The Game), first aired in 2022.
Following the lives of adulterers Fola (Wokoma) and Josh (McGuire) whose affair is less neat-and-tidy than they initially thought, the first series consisted of 18 10-minute episodes.
Series two takes place a few months after the end of series one. Now, Fola and Josh are closer than ever, but it’s not exactly plain sailing. Fola’s divorce isn’t finalised, and her just-about-husband Zack (Fox) is determined to win her back. Meanwhile, Josh is finally broken up with Esther (Cooke), but she’s back on the scene after returning home from travelling.
“In the first series of Cheaters, writer Oli Lyttelton created a totally believable set of characters whose romantic complications were hilarious and compelling in equal measure,” said Petra Fried, Joint Managing Director for Clerkenwell Films.
“With the same team in front of and behind the camera, it’s great to have our Cheaters back on the BBC, giving us a chance to see if the two sets of neighbours are managing their newly-aligned relationships – and also introducing us to some intriguing newcomers, who viewers will meet in due course.”
Series two of Cheaters will air on BBC One and be available on BBC iPlayer.
