Channel 4 is joining forces with MonologueSlam UK to give over 20 actors a once-in-a-lifetime chance at kickstarting their career with Channel 4 Drama
The broadcaster is partnering with Triforce Creative Network and MonologueSlam UK to support up and coming actors from all backgrounds across the entire UK.
MonologueSlam UK is a scheme running across the UK which offers professional actors the opportunity to perform a monologue before a judging panel of industry professionals.
Twenty-two actors will compete in the final in London in December in front of key industry decision makers and a Channel 4 drama commissioner, with 10 finalists going on to explore working with Channel 4 Drama.
The regional heats give hundreds of actors the opportunity to boost their career as they perform before a panel of four industry heavyweights – all of whom have the power to assist actors’ careers. Winning actors will then be invited through to the finals in London.
Channel 4’s On-screen Diversity Executive Ramy El-Bergamy reiterated the channel’s commitment to on- and off screen diversity, saying “We’re excited to be partnering with TriForce Creative Network on their MonologueSlam UK programme to tackle the issue of on screen diversity head on.
“The beauty of MonologueSlam UK is that gender, race, colour, sexuality and social background don’t come into it, it’s purely down to talent and it gives us direct access to a hugely diverse pool of talent,” he said.
