Super Surgeons: A Chance at Life in association with Macmillan has been commissioned by Channel 4.

The three-part series will take place at The Royal Marden NHS Foundation Trust, one of the world’s leading cancer hospitals, and will follow surgical oncologists as they use ground-breaking new technology to help save lives.

Surgeons perform high stakes operations with innovative technology that allows them to give hope to patients with rare cancers and work at the forefront of what’s medically possible. Patients put their lives in the hands of these surgeons, with limited surgical options anywhere else in the UK.

Viewers will watch the devastating impact cancer has on patients and their families, following them from their diagnosis to surgery, to recuperation and their new life.

The pandemic has led to the NHS needing to work at extra capacity, with staff working tirelessly to not only provide medical care but offer support and companionship while visitor restrictions were in place.

Dame Cally Palmer, Chief executive of The Royal Marsden NHD Foundation Trust commented: "We are delighted the Super Surgeons series will showcase the innovative work The Royal Marsden’s surgical team perform every day to achieve the best results for our cancer patients.

"Our surgical team build strong relationships with patients while planning for complex operations that are often UK firsts. The desire to offer the most advanced procedures is always driven by what is best for our patients and their quality of life."
