Bridget Christie’s comedy The Change has been commissioned for Channel 4.
The six-part comedy drama will see stand-up comedian, actor and writer Bridget Christie play Linda, a woman who finds herself going through a major life change.
At 50-years-old, the working class, married mother of two is having an identity crisis, she’s questioning who she is, what she is and if there is more to life.
After forgetting the name for a shoe, Linda is worried that she’s suffering from early onset dementia.
However, when she visits her GP she discovers she is actually going through the menopause, but instead of feeling dispirited, she feels empowered and set free.
With a new zest for life, Linda decides to take back some of the time she’s spent doing invisible work and focus on what she wants.
Linda rediscovers her old Triumph motorbike which she hasn’t ridden in 30 years and sets out on a road trip alone to the wilderness of The Forest of Dean.
During her expedition she meets the eccentric locals, including the infamous Eel Sisters, a resentful local radio presenter and a mysterious man who lives in the woods with a wild boar.
Linda is on the search for a new identity, a purpose and the tree she used to climb as a child.
Bridget Christie commented: “I’ve got a Channel 4 series??? Are you joking? I’m sorry I don’t know anything about this. Unless I’ve forgotten? I am having terrible trouble remembering things at the moment because of the menopause. What’s it about?”
