The format remains the same, but a new slew of ten celebrity fugitives have been announced for the fifth series of Celebrity Hunted.
As usual, the participants will seek to evade capture by former police, army and intelligence personnel. They’ll have to be sharp to do so. Whilst the authorities have an arsenal of real life law enforcing technologies to pinpoint the fugitives, the celebrities will have nothing but the clothes on their backs and each other’s company.
Former contestants have been forced to go completely off-grid in a bid to avoid the ‘Hunters’: avoiding using bank cards, sleeping in tents in rural areas and not trusting anyone along the way for a full 25 days.
This year’s contestants will include stand-up comedians Ed Gamble and James Acaster, who also host the popular Off-Menu Podcast. Strictly Come Dancing star Katya Jones will be paired with her best friend, presenter and former Olympic snowboarder Aimee Fuller.
Resident therapists on This Morning, husband and wife Nik and Eva Speakman, will also be on the run. Social media personality Saffron Barker will team up with TV mathematician Bobby Seagull. Last but not least, Coronation Street actress Nicola Thorp will be dodging hunters with boyfriend and Starstruck actor Nikesh Patel.
The celebs will be raising money for Stand Up to Cancer.
Tom Hutchings, Executive Producer for Shine TV, who are producing the series, said: "Get ready for the adventures of our best set of celebrity fugitives ever as we release them, for the first time, in epic prison break-out style!”
“Expect the unexpected as our fugitives enlist the help of their celebrity friends, hide out in the most daring locations and get chased around the UK by our fearless team of Hunters, headed up by Chief Lisa Theaker."
Lisa Theaker is the Assistant Chief Constable of Cleveland Police. She remains a serving Constable and will be using her annual leave to appear in the show.
Celebrity Hunted for Stand Up to Cancer will premiere on Channel 4 at the end of March 2023.
