All3Media has teamed up with the National Film and Television School (NFTS) to offer one lucky student an exclusive scholarship on a TV writing course
All3 will provide the money for one person from a black, Asian, or other minority ethnic background to study an intensive eight-week course in writing for television. Students will aim to create an idea for a drama series that has the potential to run for several seasons. At the end, each participant produces a Bible for a show of their creation, as well as a script for the pilot episode.
Led by ex-Channel 4 commissioner Peter Ansorge, the course, titled 'TV Drama - Creating the Bible' will teach aspiring writers and producers the technicalities of making a long running drama serial. Guest speakers from All3's network of independents will also lead classes in development.
Chief Operating Officer at All3Media, Sara Geater said: "The National Film and Television School has an incredibly impressive track record in producing the stars of the future so we are extremely pleased to announce this partnership. We are also committed to increasing diversity amongst the creators and producers of our content, which is why we are launching a scholarship for a student from a BAME background.”
As part of the deal, All3Media get first refusal on all scripts that come out of the course.
In September the NFTS will host its first ever open day at BAFTA's London centre. Noel Clarke, creator of the Kidulthood film trilogy, will host a Q&A session as prospective students experience immersive workshops in digital effects, games, and animation at the venue in Piccadilly. Talent scouts from the NFTS will also be there on the day to accept applications and showreels from attendees.
