The BBC Academy is committed to promoting equality and diversity on our schemes and in developing a positive culture where everyone can develop to their full potentialacross the BBC. Successful applicants will be given a contract with the BBC and during this time we’ll train and develop you for a career in the media and by the end of thescheme you will have a range of skills and a sound understanding of the beginning-to-end process of programme-making.

BECTU

Blast! Films

Blast! Films is an award-winning independent production company founded in 1994.  They make a variety of documentary, specialist factual, features and drama/doc productions for both UK and US broadcasters.  They are currently in production with programmes including 999: What’s Your Emergency? and The Supervet

Creative Skillset

DiVA Apprenticeships

DiVA is a recruitment and training organisation specialising in creative and digital apprenticeships in the creative sector. DiVAs client list include well-known brands such as Universal Music, All3 Media, Shed Media, Warner Music, the Southbank centre and a host of other creative companies.  Over 87% of DiVA Apprentices are offered a permanent job following their apprenticeship.  

Edinburgh International Television Festival

As well as being one of Britain’s premier TV events, The Edinburgh International Television Festival is also committed to identifying and nurturing the next generation of talent, whatever their background. This is done through two free talent schemes, The Network and Ones to Watch, which aim to ensure that the people making TV are as diverse at the audience watching it. 

If you dream of working in the industry, then The Network is the scheme for you. It’s open to anyone aged 18+ who wants to kickstart a career in TV, no experience needed! The Indie Training Fund

The Indie Training Fund (ITF) develops and run the training programme for the entry level Pact Indie Diversity new entrant’s scheme. We’re a not-for-profit organisation led by our Independent TV company members. ITF offers training in most areas of TV for freelancers and production companies across the UK. All our one day short courses in Shoreditch are open to new entrants at a heavily subsidised freelance rate of £95 including camera skills, self-shooting and a Researchers Survival Guide. We also offer occasional short courses, events and industry masterclasses completely free.

MAMA Youth Project

MAMA Youth Project aims to equip young people from 18-25 years of age with the skills and experience to secure long-term, fulfilling employment in the TV and media industry. We particularly focus on young people from under-represented groups and those with limited educational or employment opportunities, including unemployed graduates. 

Media Trust

At  Media Trust we offer 18-25 year olds, a  FREE 6 month training initiative where in two months of intense masterclasses, you learn how to shoot, edit, research and market your content. The next four months are spent producing your own TV specials for transmission on two UK TV platforms, Community Channel and London Live. 

National Film and Television School (NFTS)
