Full Session: Social Media Muscles in on TV

Networks such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube are now an integral part of the UK’s video landscape. What are the implications of their growth, not just for viewers, but for content creators, traditional broadcasters and advertisers?

An expert panel, chaired by Kate Bulkley, discussed the subject at our 'Social Media Muscles in on TV' event. The panel included Dara Nasr, Managing Director, Twitter, UK; Stephen Nuttall, Senior Director, EMEA, YouTube and Patrick Walker, Director of Media Partnerships, EMEA, Facebook.

At the RTS London Conference, the discussion over regulations in the public service broadcasting sector got heated as the panel debated government intervention, licence fees, and staying true to their remit. 

Pat Younge chaired as Channel 4 chief creative officer Jay Hunt, BBC's director of strategy and education James Purnell, Italian journalist Monica Maggioni, and head of planning and scheduling for Denmark's broadcasting corporation Peter Rosberg offer their take on how to best serve the public.

 At last month's The Secret of the Soaps event, the masterminds behind Coronation Street revealed to RTS audiences the inside secrets of what has made the show last for 55 years

The panel starred actor Tina O'Brien, writer Debbie Oates, producer Stuart Blackburn and ITV's Creative Director of Serial Dramas John Whiston. The session was chaired by former ITV Director of Entertainment and Comedy  Paul Jackson.
