Sorry, I Didn’t Know to return for fifth series

Jimmy Akingbola (In the Long Run) hosts the show, while Chizzy Akudolu (Criminal Record) and Eddie Kadi (Strictly Come Dancing) are the team captains. Together with each episode’s guests, Chizzy and Eddie give it their all against a series of questions mainly looking at Black history.

Sorry, I Didn’t Know has led progress since its inception, being the first TV quiz show in the UK to focus on Black history. It has now become the longest-running show on ITV from a Black-led production company.

There will also be a new brand campaign and curated collections on ITV Hub and BritBox.

Commissioning Editor Satmohan Panesar said: “Building on last year's celebrations, Black History Month returns to ITV this October.

“Featuring a range of engaging documentaries from some of our highest profile talent; through their personal stories, the films will explore what it means to be black in Britain today.”

Celebrating the contribution of black people in television, comedy, history and wider culture, ITV will broadcast a host of new programmes and will promote the work of Black artists in the channel’s on-air branding throughout the month.

Alison Hammond: Back To School (w/t)

In this one-hour special, Good Morning Britain’s beloved Brummie Alison Hammond will be going on the definitive school trip.

From Hadrian’s Wall to Hampton Court, Alison will travel across Britain to discover a different side to the history that is taught in schools.

Channel 4 to mark Black History Month with five new commissions

The documentaries will explore different aspects of the Black experience in modern Britain, including a look at romantic relationships, the celebration of black comedians, and an investigation into why Covid-19 cases are so prominent in Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic groups. 

"I am really excited about the range of programming for Black History Month this year, particularly because we are launching new onscreen talent we hope will become regular faces on Channel 4,” said Danny Horan, Head of Factual at Channel 4.

gal-dem, an online and print publication committed to sharing the experiences of women and non-binary people of colour, will delve into Channel 4’s archives to curate a Black British History collection.

The six titles that have been selected each comment on the black British experience and will be accompanied by six new short films.

The new films will see members of the gal-dem community interview individuals related to the original films.
