BBC South Today host Sally Taylor honoured at the RTS Southern Awards 2025

Sally Taylor received a special award for Services to Broadcasting at the RTS Southern Television Awards in Southampton. As the anchor of regional news magazine BBC South Today for almost 40 years, Taylor covered 10 general elections, reported from war-torn ­Bosnia and broadcast live from Antarctica. She retired from the show in March.

The film, made by Stephanie Farmer and Kerstin Stutterheim over two years, explores the athletes’ relationship with sport, attitudes to disability and the importance of media coverage.

The screening was followed by a Q&A with Farmer, Stutterheim, Shuker, Smith and Lewis Coombes, BBC South Today Sports Editor, who reported on the Paris games.
