'It’s easy to just take the piss out of showbusiness. In many ways, it’s laughable: we’re not saving lives, it’s a distraction, we’re like shadow puppets on a cave wall,” says Jack Davenport (This Life, Coupling), star of Ten Percent. “But John Morton’s evocation of the world of showbusiness in the UK in the year 2022 shows tenderness. These are real people with real vulnerabilities.”
The new facilities comprise nine sound stages, workshops and office accommodation, which total approximately 450,000 square feet.
The facilities form part of the wider redevelopment and expansion of Shepperton Studios, which will provide approximately 1.2 million square feet of new studio space. Once construction is completed in 2023, the Studios will comprise 31 stages, making it the second-biggest studio in the world.
The deal is part of Amazon Studios’ plans to expand its production footprint in the UK.
