Broadcaster, Economist and Author

Award-winning broadcaster, economist and author Dharshini David is the BBC’s Chief Economics Correspondent and a presenter of Radio 4 programmes.

Having also been the Today programme’s Business Presenter, she’s known for agenda-setting coverage on key events from the financial crisis to Brexit and the impact of Covid. Her Radio 4Analysis documentary Is Britain the Sick Man of Europe won the prestigious 2022 Wincott Prize for financial journalism , hailed by judges as “the BBC at its best”.  

Dharshini worked in Whitehall before becoming HSBC Investment Bank’s UK Economist. She swapped the trading floor for the BBC, reporting and presenting in London and New York, where she unveiled the onset of the credit crunch. She’s also presented financial and political programmes for Sky, and advised the boards of Tesco and Legal & General

Dharshini is the author of The Almighty Dollar (2018), the best-selling guide to the global economy.
