Dan McGolpin

Controller, Programming and iPlayer, BBC

In March 2019 Dan took up a newly created role as Controller of iPlayer, providing a single point of leadership for the service across BBC divisions.

He combines this with his role as Controller of Programming for the BBC Content division which he has performed since 2017 with responsibility for the planning, scheduling and programme acquisition teams.

Prior to this in June 2015 he was made Controller of Daytime, leading a commissioning team responsible for in excess of 1,000 hours of original content each year. Some new series launching in this time included The Repair Shop, Richard Osman’s House of Games and The Mallorca Files.

From 2006 to 2015 Dan was Head of Planning and Scheduling, initially on BBC Three and then from 2010 on BBC One. This period included Gavin and Stacey and Family Guy on BBC Three and the London 2012 Olympics, Sherlock, Call The Midwife and The Voice UK on BBC One.

Dan joined the BBC in 2000 following four years as a business consultant in the private sector. Initially he worked in the BBC Corporate Strategy team before moving into channel management, initially as a Plan Manager on BBC Two from 2001.
