Ade Adepitan MBE

TV Presenter, Paralympic Medallist and Journalist

Ade Adepitan is a TV Presenter, Paralympic Medallist and Journalist.

Born in Lagos, Nigeria and raised in East London, Ade survived polio as youngster. Ade went on to succeed as an international Paralympic wheelchair basketball player and then as a renowned broadcaster.

He was recently in Kenya for Our Changing Planet. For Climate Change: Ade on the Frontline, he visited the people and places around the globe being directly affected by climate change.

Ade is a co-host of Children in Need and has presented countless sporting events, including the historic 2012 Paralympics for Channel 4.

In a personal documentary for Channel 4 , Ade Adepitan: Journey of my Lifetime , Ade returned to his birthplace to investigate Nigeria’s polio endemic after which he was invited by Bill Gates to speak at the Global Vaccine Summit 2020, when Nigeria officially declared the country free from wild poliovirus . Ade continues to work alongside the Global Polio Eradication Initiative.

Ade won Bronze in the Athens Paralympics, Silver in the European Championships and Gold in the World Championships, and was awarded an MBE in 2005.

Ade has released four children’s books based on stories from his own childhood.
