The lecture, titled 'The BBC - Destroy at Your Peril', is co-sponsored by the Royal Television Society and the Media Society. Tickets are available through the RTS website. There will be a reception after the lecture in the Portland Hall. Proceeds of the lecture will go to the Steve Hewlett Scholarship Fund, which is chaired by Sir Clive Jones, and managed by him, Steve’s widow, Rachel Crellin and John Mair.
The fund was set up on the death of Steve in 2017 and to date six Hewlett scholars have been helped through media/journalism courses at university.
The RTS Cymru Awards celebrate excellence in broadcast television, digital content and student films and aim to recognise the huge variety of skills and processes involved in programme production across a wide variety of categories.
Chair of RTS Cymru Wales, Edward Russell said:
This prestigious event is an annual recognition of the best student television production in Scotland, from students studying across Scotland.
We will be presenting awards for animation, factual, comedy & entertainment and drama. In addition, there will be five craft categories, production design, sound, editing and camera and writing. The Craft Awards will be announced on the night. This is a great opportunity to get feedback from the industry judging panel and to network with industry professionals who are keen to support this event. Make sure you are in the room!
