The BBC has confirmed the cast for the upcoming adaptation of Dolly Alderton’s debut book Everything I Know About Love.
Inspired by her own hilarious and in parts heart-breaking memoir of the same name, about her post-university experiences living in a London house share, Everything I Know About Love will offer an unflinching account of surviving your twenties.
The series will follow the relationship of two childhood best friends, Maggie, played by Emma Appleton (Pistol) and Birdy, played by Bel Powley (The Morning Show). Set in a London house-share in 2012, with flashbacks to suburban adolescence in the early noughties, Everything I Know About Love will explore bad dates, heartaches, and humiliations, asking the question: can platonic love survive romantic love as we grow up?
Also joining the cast will be Marli Siu (Alex Rider) as Nell, Jordan Peters (Gangs of London) as Neil, and newcomers Aliyah Odoffin as Amara, Connor Finch as Street and Ryan Brown in his breakout role as Nathan.
China Moo-Young (Intergalactic) will direct the seven-part series produced by Working Title Television (We Are Lady Parts).
Dolly Alderton said: “I am beyond thrilled with every actor we have on board for Everything I Know About Love. Aisha Bywaters has helped us find our dream cast and we are so excited to see them inhabit the world of the show and bring its stories and relationships to life.”
China Moo-Young added: “We have a sublime cast for Everything I Know About Love and I'm so excited to see them bring all the heart and humour of Dolly's scripts to life on screen.”
Filming for Everything I Know About Love will commence imminently in Manchester and London, and will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in 2022.
